Jonga is South Africa's biggest independent and privately owned search engine with over 25,000,000 indexed web pages and over 5,000,000 other indexed items from prominent South African websites (News, Television, Products etc).

Jonga (roughly translated from the isiXhosa word meaning to "look" or "aim") is the result of many hours of development because of the pure frustration and lack of relevant South African results returned by existing SA Search engines as well as other major international search engines.

Jonga wasn't developed to take on the international search engines however it was developed with the goal of becoming the first place South Africans would go if they wanted to search for anything South African and in turn highlight the best of SA's home-grown online offerings to place local products and services firmly in the South African spotlight.

Jonga is owned and developed by Alistair Carruthers, a full-time Information Systems Manager for a large transport group and as such is privately funded and operated.
