Focus: South Coast Lions Show

South Coast Lions ShowThe 21st staging of Kwazulu-Natal South Coast's premier platform for local and national trade. For local business, the Lions Show 2007 is the springboard for companies wishing to expand local and national markets. For national business, the Lions Show is the South Coast's show of strength - the South Coast's most successful shop window to the rest of South Africa. The Show is unique in that it involves the full diversity of nationalities and cultures that form part of everyday life in this beautiful region. The Show forms an important part of the Winter Holidays programme and Sardine Festival Calendar.

The dates 13 - 15 July 2007 have been chosen for the Show as they coincide with the winter school holidays and the Sardine Festival. Thus, the maximum amount of people in this area as well as thousands of annual holiday-makers that flock to this region, will be able to attend the show. This project is also the largest combined fundraiser and service undertaking of the Lions Club of Port Shepstone. All monies raised are used for local Lions charities. Ugu Department Building Fire

Ugu fire Last SCNews email newsletter reported on the snow in Kokstad, and just moments after it was sent out to all subscribers, I drove past the Ugu Department Building in Oslo Beach which was completely engulfed in flames! What a sight it was! The Ugu Building has been a long standing landmark of the South Coast, and this fire has already, and will in future affect the lives of many. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and some documents were lost in the fire, as well as desks, computer equipment, etc. Some of the photos taken by John Gore and Morne Olivier can be seen online, click here to view the photos. Please feel free to leave comments too.

Your feedback: What do YOU want

You ChooseSCNews email newsletter has gained so much popularity among locals, I've decided to expand our online services. Tech Article: The WWW part of a website address

We all know websites must all start with www in front (example: www.SouthCoastDirectory.co.za ) right? Wrong! That is in fact NOT true! If the webserver has been correctly setup, the www part is not required. Test this out on some of the websites you visit often. Here are some examples:

google.com , hibiscuscoast.kzn.org.za , scd.co.za , etc

Please note, however, that this is not always the case. Some website that have not been well configured may not work without the www part, but the majority will work without the www part. Save yourself some precious seconds, and leave off the www . :)

Hot Tip: Shortcut on internet browsers: press ctrl+enter to automatically complete a website address (adds the "http://" and the ".com" part for you. Try it out in your internet explorer: type just the word "google", then press ctrl+enter .
